Business Development Manager
Location : USA
Job Type : Full Time
Category : Mid Level (5-10 years)
Our client is looking for a Business Development Manager to lead growth in the transportation and municipal markets. This is a high-visibility role for a consultative seller who knows how to open doors with DOTs, cities, counties, and the engineering partners who serve them — and who can turn long sales cycles into long-term clients.
What You'll Do
- Grow the transportation and municipal pipeline. Identify, pursue, and win new clients across state and local transportation agencies, municipalities, and public-sector partners within our core regions.
- Own key relationships. Maintain and deepen relationships with existing clients, re-engage former clients, and cultivate industry partners and prime contractors.
- Drive bids and proposals. Lead and support the development of cost estimates and written technical proposals for both public and private sector opportunities.
- Represent the brand. Be the face of the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events, and help raise brand awareness through targeted marketing initiatives.
- Contribute to strategy. Play an active role in corporate strategic initiatives and collaborate with leadership on marketing campaigns and market positioning.
- Stay ahead of the curve. Track emerging geospatial technologies — LiDAR, mobile mapping, UAS, and beyond — and help shape how we evolve our service offerings.
What You Bring
- Proven success in business development or direct sales, ideally within geospatial, surveying, AEC, or a related technical-services industry.
- Strong account management and relationship-building skills, with a consultative approach.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, comfortable in front of clients and at the podium.
- Experience developing bids and proposals for government and private-sector clients.
- Patience and persistence to navigate long, complex public-sector sales cycles with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to travel to prospect, build relationships, and represent the company at industry events.
- Proficiency with Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Office.
Nice to Have
- Background in remote sensing (LiDAR), photogrammetry, or geospatial solutions.
- Established relationships within transportation agencies (e.g., state DOTs) and municipal governments.
- Experience selling both established measurement solutions and emerging technologies.
- ASPRS CMS-Lidar certification.
- Public speaking and workshop facilitation experience.
