Traveling Survey Crew Chief

We are actively recruiting for a Survey Crew Chief willing to travel to the Virgin Islands for a large project. This work will be performed 3 weeks on site with one week down time at home. Preferred location for this role is within the Southeast for proximity to future projects. This is a permanent, full-time position.


Compensation: $30–$32/hour + travel accommodations/ and generous per diem

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage daily field operations for survey crews across multiple project sites 
  • Perform and oversee boundary, cadastral, and right-of-way surveys 
  • Interpret plats, deeds, and legal descriptions to guide fieldwork 
  • Apply record research, analytical thinking, and physical evidence to boundary determinations 
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of data collection using GPS, total stations, and other survey equipment 
  • Coordinate with licensed surveyors and project managers to maintain project timelines 
  • Maintain field notes, documentation, and data integrity 
  • Travel extensively throughout the Southeast (projects may vary week to week)

  • Easement and property surveys 
  • Section retracements 
  • Right-of-Way (ROW) surveys 
  • Title surveys (ALTA/ACSM) 
  • Subdivision layout and re-staking 
  • You’ll be supported by a team of licensed professional surveyors who provide oversight and technical guidance on all boundary-related work.


What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief (or strong Party Chief experience ready to step up) 
  • Strong knowledge of boundary and cadastral surveying principles 
  • Experience with ROW and/or ALTA surveys preferred 
  • Ability to read and interpret deeds, plats, and legal descriptions 
  • Proficiency with GPS, total stations, and data collectors 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills 
  • Willingness and ability to travel consistently throughout the Southeast 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
