The Senior Staff Accountant / Accounting Manager performs full-cycle accounting, manages accounts payable, and ensures accurate financial reporting in a fast-growing, accrual-based environment. This role is critical for maintaining clean books, handling complex inventory and COGS calculations, managing multi-state sales tax compliance, intercompany accounting across multiple entities, supporting investor and bank due diligence, and facilitating accounting operations through mergers and acquisitions, while providing general administrative support to the finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable processing, invoice entry, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements.
- Manage monthly close process, including bank reconciliations, balance sheet schedules, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset depreciation.
- Record and reconcile inventory transactions, calculate COGS, capitalize inbound shipping costs, and ensure accurate cost allocation across product lines.
- Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns, reconcile sales tax liability accounts, and stay compliant with varying state regulations.
- Manage intercompany accounting transactions across multiple entities, including eliminations, intercompany billing, and reconciliation of intercompany balances.
- Support investor and bank due diligence processes by preparing detailed financial documentation, schedules, and explanations.
- Assist with accounting operations during mergers and acquisitions, including integration of financial systems, chart of accounts mapping, and post-close harmonization.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy, post journal entries, and prepare supporting schedules for audits and financial reporting.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation, including gathering documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance team, such as filing, vendor correspondence, and ad-hoc reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and controls in the accounting function.
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, and sales teams to resolve inventory, cost, and billing discrepancies.
- Ensure all financial records and transactions comply with GAAP and internal policies.
Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in full-cycle accounting or staff accounting, with 3–5+ years required; heavy accrual-based accounting experience essential (cash-based experience alone is not sufficient).
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (or similar accrual-based accounting software) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, COGS, capitalized costs, multi-state sales tax compliance, intercompany accounting, and due diligence processes.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in e-commerce, hardware distribution, or manufacturing environments with physical inventory.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or multi-entity accounting integrations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-state operations.
Compensation and Benefits:
$80,000 annually
