The Director of Autonomy-as-a-Service Division leads the establishment and scaling of Enterprise UAS's new AaaS business line, delivering turnkey autonomous drone operations using hardware like DJI Dock, security trailers, and the FlytBase software platform. This role owns the transition from early pilots to profitable, recurring-revenue services across sectors such as public safety, energy, utilities, rail, construction, mining, and solar, integrating technology, operations, commercial strategy, and customer success to drive high-margin growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Autonomy-as-a-Service division, owning the overall strategy, P&L, pricing, and growth roadmap.
• Define and iterate the commercial model for dock leasing, operational services, and recurring support packages.
• Establish and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting cadence focused on utilization, uptime, and measurable return on investment (ROI) per deployment.
• Actively meet with customers and internal stakeholders to build expertise in critical DFR use cases and pain points to solve.
• Define the full end-to-end DFR customer experience spanning cloud admin management, real-time drone operations, flight experience, logging, and media offload.
• Design, document, and implement comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for remote operations, preventive maintenance, and field service activities.
• Set up and manage a scalable Remote Operations Center (ROC) infrastructure for live flight oversight and advanced technical support.
• Build and manage a network of local field operators and third-party contractors for deployment, maintenance, and site-level support.
• Ensure strict regulatory compliance for all deployed operations, executing BVLOS waiver applications, risk assessments, and required training programs.
• Define, deploy, and scale autonomous programs, ensuring deep alignment with business goals, translating customer objectives into repeatable workflows, and meeting SLAs for uptime, safety, and data quality.
• Serve as the primary liaison with FlytBase for platform deployment, software integrations, and continuous automation improvements.
• Coordinate effectively with hardware OEMs (e.g., DJI Enterprise) for sourcing, support, and technology roadmapping.
• Align and collaborate with internal sales, marketing, and finance teams to successfully position, sell, and support the AaaS offering.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of experience in enterprise operations, robotics, or industrial automation, with significant exposure to drones or complex industrial technology deployment; a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
• Proven history of successfully building and scaling a new business unit, product line, or service from inception into a profitable venture.
• Strong commercial mindset with deep comfort in P&L management, recurring-revenue structures, and complex pricing models (e.g., leasing/subscription).
• Solid understanding of field operations, complex technology deployment logistics, and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., FAA regulations).
• Exceptional program management and stakeholder collaboration skills, capable of leading cross-functional efforts across technical, regulatory, and customer teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep expertise in one or more of: autonomous systems, BVLOS operations, industrial inspections, public safety, or site automation.
• Experience with integrated security or autonomy solutions involving hardware, software, and monitoring services.
• Certification in project management, supply chain, or security operations.

Compensation and Benefits

$180,000 - $250,000 annually, commensurate with experience, based on Los Angeles market rates for a full-time role, with health, dental, vision insurance, and retirement plans as per company policy.
