GeoSearch is actively looking for an Airborne Sensor Operator! The successful candidate will operate lidar, camera, or other sensor systems in fixed or rotary wing aircrafts to collect data to meet project requirements. A background in geomatics/surveying/mapping or remote sensing and familiarity with IMU/GPS systems and Lidar technology is a plus. This position entails extensive travel, and the primary working environment is in small aircraft with post-mission data handling duties typically done from a hotel room. The successful candidate will be one who is comfortable in small aircraft for extended periods, detail oriented, organized, and who has good communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Ensures health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner. 

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot problems with aerial sensors. 

• Generate and provide the Project Manager with detailed flight logs. 

• Work collaboratively with aircraft pilot to direct aerial survey missions. This includes making the call when atmospheric conditions are too deteriorated for data collection, directing the order of acquisition, tracking flight line completion and ensuring aircraft flight parameters are adhered to. 

• Required to spend as many as 8hrs/day in the aircraft during periods of good weather. 

• Responsible for making digital backups of raw LiDAR, Photos, and GNSS files to send to office. 

• Responsible for coordinating with aircraft pilot to create an efficient plan for aerial LiDAR data acquisition each day. 

• Responsible for keeping inventory, servicing and maintenance of sensor and field survey equipment. 

• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and required by the needs of the business. 


Required Licenses/Endorsements: 

• Valid driver’s license 

• Pass background check and D&A screening 


Physical Requirements: 

• Requires lifting, pulling, pushing, or carrying up to 60 lbs. 

• Must not be prone to motion sickness and have no aversion to working from aircraft. 

• Requires speaking, listening. 

• Requires sitting, standing, grasping, and reaching. 

• Requires walking, stooping, and crouching. 

• Must be comfortable spending many hours in a single engine propeller aircraft. 


Per diem included, travel expenses paid for (including hotel, rental car, etc.).
