Our Story
GeoSearch was founded by Richard Serby in 1988 on a simple idea: geospatial companies deserve a recruiting partner who actually knows the field. Nearly four decades later, that's still exactly what we are.
We've spent those years building real relationships across surveying, GIS, remote sensing, LiDAR, and photogrammetry — not as a generalist staffing agency that takes the occasional GIS role, but as specialists in one field. In 2023, GeoSearch became a woman-owned company under president Jessica Touchard, who has served as a committee chair with MAPPS for over five years. We're also active members of the Geospatial Professional Network (GPN) and the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF). That involvement isn't marketing. It's how we stay close to the people and the work we recruit for.
Our Mission
To be the resource employers go to first when they need specialized geospatial talent.
Why GeoSearch
The choice in recruiting usually comes down to specialist or generalist. We're firmly the former, and it shows in the work.
-
Niche expertise
Geospatial is the only field we work in. We understand the roles, the technology, and what a strong hire actually looks like.
-
Decades of relationships
Building a network across the industry since 1988, so we already know who's out there when you need them.
-
Active community presence
We show up across the geospatial community, from GeoWeek to the GEOINT Symposium. We're part of the industry, not just a vendor to it.
-
Reach across the US, Canada, and beyond
Most of our placements are in North America, with reach that extends globally when the right person is elsewhere.
Industry Involvement
We don't just recruit for the geospatial industry — we're part of it.
Our team attends events across every corner of the field, including GeoWeek, the Esri User Conference, FOSS4G, R-CON, the Commercial UAV Expo, and the GEOINT Symposium. We speak at events regularly, and we support job fairs and student events to help bring new people into the profession.
That presence keeps us close to the technology, the conversations, and the talent shaping geospatial work. We're part of the industry, not just a vendor to it.
Our recruiters are specialists, not generalists.
Each one works in the geospatial industry they recruit for — so when you talk to us, you're talking to someone who already understands the role.
