Neal Carpenter

Senior Recruiting Consultant

Senior Recruiting Consultant · Decades in geospatial, from entry level to CEO. Strongest on sales, sales leadership, and project management searches.

Bio

Neal Carpenter spent several decades in the geospatial industry before he ever recruited for it. He started at entry level, worked across production, sales, project management, and executive leadership, and eventually became President and CEO — and his company was a GeoSearch client for 25 years. He joined the GeoSearch team three and a half years ago, bringing that rare perspective with him.

That background changes how he works. With a client, Neal listens for the vision and the pain points standing in the way of it — not just the skills and experience they want, but who they want: the personality, philosophy, and integrity that will actually fit. With a candidate, he digs into why they're looking and what they're really after, then listens. Clients say he speaks their language; candidates say it's a relief to talk to a recruiter who understands what they actually do.

Colleagues describe him as friendly, considerate, curious, calm, and responsive. He's well networked across the industry, and thinking spatially comes naturally to him — which is part of why he believes in the work. Geospatial helps governments, businesses, and society work more efficiently and make better decisions with better data.

Where he's at his best

Neal is strongest on sales and sales leadership roles and project manager searches — positions where his own years running and growing a geospatial business help him recognize the right person quickly.

A placement he's proud of

A client needed to hire several entry-level geospatial technicians quickly, and they all had to be based in the one state where the work was happening. Neal's team exceeded expectations — and several of those hires have since built thriving careers with the company.

In his words

"A year after a placement, the client called just to tell me how much they loved the hire and what a great job he was doing. That's when you know it worked."

What he brings

Neal doesn't have to learn the industry — he's lived it. Decades inside geospatial companies and a deep network across the field mean he speaks clients' language from the first call and often knows the right candidate before the search even begins.

Beyond work

Outside work, Neal's grandchildren adore him — and as he puts it, what could be better than that?
