Core Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Lead survey field crew in performing boundary, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
  • Understand basic boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA surveys, as well as plats.
  • Proficient in all required safety procedures and practices. Ensure crews follow safety procedures and practices.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and adheres to site-specific PPE or OSHA requirements.
  • Responsible for operating instruments, recording measurements and descriptive data, and ensuring that data is in the proper format.
  • Collect information, maps, data, photographs, records, etc., to understand project scope and execute survey tasks thoroughly.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of field data and performing any checks before leaving the site.
  • Able to read and interpret field data, surveys, architectural and engineering plans, and legal descriptions.
  • Communicate with internal and external project teams.
  • Willing to work in all weather and site conditions.
  • Willing to be flexible with schedule, understanding that some days may require longer hours to complete a project, and some days will be shorter due to weather or workload.
  • Responsible for individual and crew time management to ensure on-time arrival at projects and completing jobs in the allotted time to avoid multiple trips to a site.
  • Accomplish work with limited direction. Work is evaluated upon completion to meet objectives.
  • Accountable for situational success. Resolve problems that are typically well defined, but some clarification or judgment is required to determine action.  Uses judgment within defined processes and procedures to determine appropriate action and solutions.
  • The responsibilities of this role do not allow for telework.

Skills & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required, associates or bachelor's degree in surveying or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in surveying.
  • Ability to operate survey field equipment daily.
  • Ability to perform physical labor (i.e., strenuous walking, lifting, and hauling equipment) frequently.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.

Physical Requirements

  • Required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Able to sit for an extended period while in transit.
  • The nature of the position is outdoor work, ranging from extreme heat to below freezing temperatures and the potential for uneven terrain.
  • The position requires a normal range of hearing.
  • The employee must be able to lift 100 lbs. often.
  • Requires prolonged standing with a significant amount of time spent bending, squatting, and reaching.
  • Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Noise levels vary from ambient outdoor levels to those requiring ear protection.

Compensation: $21.20 - $27.72
