Individuals in this role drive the production of a variety of quality geographic and demographic materials to facilitate business development, marketing and smart location-based CRE decisions. Also provides support to general requests or specialized requests in respective areas of focus, to both internal and external clients.

  • Has a strong understanding of team members skills & abilities, and coordinates with GIS Manager to determine career development needs, and match skill sets to client/deliverable projects. Serves as primary liaison across clients, customers and the GIS Manager in all facets (e.g. region, employee, client management, etc.).
  • Manages the workload and product creation of specific GIS staff within their region, while mentoring the GIS Technicians and Analysts within their team or group.
  • Emphasizes and supports the employee growth, education, communication, and marketing capabilities for their team.
  • Serves as workload and traffic manager for GIS Technicians and Analysts on their assigned team(s) while providing guidance. Steps in to support with the workload as appropriate.
  • Schedules mapping jobs for production, assigns jobs to the GIS professionals, provides and/or delegates back-up assistance as needed. Maintains a work log of mapping jobs using a proprietary workload management system.
  • Develops location intelligence deliverables, both traditional and web-based, using a combination of geospatial, analytic, and graphic design skills. Uses ESRI platform or third-party, non-traditional mapping platforms (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) to produce best-in-class aesthetic deliverables.
  • Builds close relationships with internal clients within their regions to better understand and address their needs while providing continuous advancements to their products and services.
  • Consults with sales professionals to define mapping project requirements, investigating various approaches to attainment of end results.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (equivalent work experience = 1 year of experience for every 2 years of higher-level education). Bachelor’s degree in Geography or a related degree is preferred.

At least 5+ years of experience working with GIS Technology is required.

Prior experience with delegating/managing workloads for others.


Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) or related certifications preferred.


Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.


Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.


Mastery in the ArcGIS Suite, the Adobe Creative Suite and/or the specific software required for their team and/or area of focus.

Knowledge of GIS terms, concepts and definitions with the ability to clearly teach all levels of users is highly desired

Strong understanding of CRE is required.
