GeoSearch is seeking a GIS Application Developer to work directly with federal government clients to maintain custom ArcObjects-based tools for ArcMap, transition custom ArcMap tools to ArcGIS Pro tools with the ArcGIS Pro SDK, and build tools for GIS web applications.


  • Plan, design, implement and maintain custom or configurable applications to meet GIS or Data needs.
  • Develop geospatial tools using standard industry programming/scripting languages.
  • Develop tools using modern programming approaches, implementing techniques such as object-oriented programming, model-view-controller design patterns, and service-oriented architecture.
  • Recommend new technologies and techniques for application development.
  • Understand customer requirements and develop GIS applications to meet business needs.
  • Maintain and support applications according to changing business requirements.
  • Ensure that application architecture meets business requirements.
  • Develop system problem reports and recommendations.
  • Test applications and perform bug fixes.
  • Provide simple and intuitive tools, applications, and solutions to meet the needs of clients’ programs and end-users.
  • Customize and/or extend ArcGIS Desktop with ArcObjects.
  • Customize and/or extend ArcGIS Pro using the ArcGIS Pro SDK with C#, which includes developing Add-ins, UI components using MVVM patterns, and/or custom solution configurations.
  • Programmatically access GIS data that is secured with various types of authentications to make said data accessible to the end user.
  • Provide simple and intuitive tools, applications, and solutions to meet the needs of clients’ programs and end-users.
  • Provide technical guidance to stakeholders and user representatives.
  • Develop and publish ArcGIS Online App Templates and Web-App Builder.
  • Develop, configure and update apps, workflows, reports, and print products with Geocortex (VertiGIS Studio).
  • Develop tools with Python, using ArcGIS-specific Python modules (e.g. ArcGIS API for Python) and non-GIS Python modules (e.g. requests).


  • Professional experience developing and releasing production solutions using ESRI's ArcObjects and Windows Forms.
  • Professional experience working in a multi-user, enterprise Geodatabase environment using ESRI's Enterprise Geodatabase software and Geodatabase editing patterns.
  • Professional experience developing tools and applications with ESRI's ArcGIS Pro SDK, with C#, XAML, DAML, and WPF using MVVM patterns in Visual Studio, in the form of Add-Ins, custom solution configurations, and custom UI components.
  • Professional experience using well-known version control systems and code repositories (such as Team Foundation Server, Git, and Azure DevOps).
  • Professional experience building GIS Desktop and Web GIS tools with various Python modules, including ArcGIS Python modules and non-GIS Python modules, to meet business requirements.
  • Professional experience building Web GIS Applications with ESRI's JavaScript API or the VertiGIS Studio products suite, formerly known as Geocortex.
  • Professional experience working with natural resource geospatial data, such as timber harvest units, vegetation treatments, hydrography, grazing, minerals, realty, and species data.
  • Professional knowledge of the following:
    • Industry software design principles include object-oriented programming, model-view-controller, and model-view-view model.
    • Technical problem-solving skills related to ESRI's geospatial software for GIS Desktop and Web GIS solutions.
