The City of Irvine seeks an accomplished professional to join the Information Technology division as a GIS Analyst/Senior GIS Analyst with an emphasis on application development. This is an excellent opportunity for a service-oriented candidate who enjoys sharing their technical expertise in a progressive and challenging team environment.
This is a flexibly staffed classification series in GIS Mapping. Positions may be filled at either level dependent on candidate qualifications and the current needs of the department.

GIS Analyst Salary: $60,403.20 - $95,035.20
Senior GIS Analyst Salary: $68,452.80 - $107,640
Salary Effective June 25, 2022
GIS Analyst Salary: $61,006.40 - $95,992
Senior GIS Analyst Salary: $69,139.20 - $108,721.60
Your Impact
- Serve as the geographic information systems (GIS) administrator.
- Design, organize, maintain, and implement the integrity, performance, reliability, and security of the City's geographic information systems (GIS) to meet departmental demands.
- Design and oversee the citywide integrated geographic information systems (GIS) and web-based application development.
- Plan, organize, and implement GIS projects and oversees the work of other staff and consultants on the projects.
- Provide a wide range of services and training to City departments in the use, design, procurement, and integration of relational database management systems, and software applications.
- Ensure project activities comply with project specifications and City policies.
- Develop GIS applications for system users using advanced programming languages such as MS Visual Studio .NET or Java, JavaScript, HTML 5, and Python scripts.
- Develop applications to meet user needs. Create, define, and organize relational database tables to store information, and create queries and reports to be converted into illustrative products.

Minimum Qualifications
GIS Analyst
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, information systems management, computer science, civil engineering, planning or related field.
- Three years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining GIS databases and applications, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
May require a valid California driver's license.
Senior GIS Analyst
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, information systems management, computer science, civil engineering, or related field.
- Four years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining GIS databases and applications, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
