Senior Geospatial Technology / Project Manager - Remote Sensing - Hybrid
We are seeking a Senior Geospatial Technology Manager in our Fairfax, VA, office. This is an excellent career opportunity for an individual to join a team of professionals while working in a multidisciplinary consulting and engineering firm. Typical responsibilities are to work on the GIS/IT and Remote Sensing related projects for state and federal clients across the US.
Position requires experience in geomatics, GIS, and remote sensing. Preferred experience in survey technology including lidar and photogrammetry. Candidate should have strong conceptual understanding of geodesy, remote sensing, and GIS. Experience in topo-bathymetric lidar or acoustic sonar technologies is also a plus.
Technical Responsibilities
- Support the development of new data acquisition and processing procedures and methods
- Support development of machine learning tools and practices to advance data processing and analytics
- Support company elevation-derived hydrography program
- Assist in proposal development, and participate and present at relevant client meetings, conferences to drive our geospatial business and product efficiency
- Create and maintain professional relationships with key clients to maintain clear understanding of client needs and expectations
- Identify and expand our geospatial offerings to state and local government clients
- May serve as project/program manager for certain clients/pursuits
Managerial Responsibilities
- Work with our business development team to coordinate with clients and partners and help position for pursuits.
- Work with our proposal teams to develop compelling solutions for geospatial project needs.
- Prepare task order proposals including technical proposal, cost proposal, schedule of deliverables.
- Setup and abide by project controls within company systems (e.g., Deltek Vantagepoint, MS Project for the Web).
- Coordinate with subcontractors and work with our team to setup requisitions and purchase orders to manage their work.
- Review and manage project risks with the client.
- Manage deliverable quality within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Draft client invoices and manage through collection.
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders and respond to client feedback; and
- Represent the firm appropriately with teaming partners and subcontractors, at conferences, and business networking opportunities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.
- 5 +years of experience in the GIS/Remote Sensing Field.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills.
- Skilled at technical writing and editing for proposals, white papers, meeting minutes, project deliverables, studies, and other internal and external content.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Engineering background and\or understanding of lidar sensor design, troubleshooting, or repairs.
- Experience in other airborne sensors (imagery, hyperspectral, radar\InSAR\IFSAR, gravimetric\magnetic)
- Knowledge of one or more federal geospatial programs:
- USGS 3DEP, 3DHP, 3DNTM programs; Elevation Derived Hydrography.
- NOAA programs and initiatives including Regional Ocean Partnerships, Alaska Coastal Mapping Strategy and related working groups (AMEC, AGC, etc.), 3D Nation Study, Initiative for Resilient Great Lakes Coasts.
- FEMA floodplain mapping program, flood insurance, FIRM Database, NFHL, MIP, Specifications and Guidelines, elevation certificates, LOMAs and LOMRs, Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling, Community Rating System, Risk Rating, floodplain management
