Director of Sales: Public Safety / SaaS
This is a fully remote position.
Our client is the nation's leading provider of public safety location intelligence. They combine high quality locally authoritative maps with verified, curated additional supportive map data and live location content into a single, consolidated service that can feed into any public safety mapping application to ensure the right data is provided to Emergency 9-1-1 call centers and emergency responder applications at the right time.
Job Summary:
The Director of Sales holds a crucial position within our organization, charged with driving revenue growth and advancing business development of a SaaS organization. This role entails leading the sales team, formulating strategic sales initiatives, and cultivating relationships with key prospects to meet sales targets. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of public safety / 911, or safety & security, market dynamics and demonstrate a results-oriented approach.
Essential Specific Job Duties:
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company objectives and revenue targets. This includes setting clear, measurable goals and outlining detailed action steps to reach them, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team to ensure high performance and professional growth. This involves conducting regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback, and facilitating continuous learning and development opportunities.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's market presence. This requires proactive market research, attending industry events, and leveraging professional networks to identify potential clients and partnerships.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Engage in regular communication, understand their needs, and deliver tailored solutions to foster long-term loyalty and satisfaction.
- Analyze sales data and market trends to make informed business decisions. Utilize advanced analytics tools to track performance metrics, identify patterns, and predict future sales trends, enabling data-driven strategy adjustments.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies. Work closely with marketing, product development, and customer service teams to create a unified approach that drives customer satisfaction and business growth.
- Monitor and report on sales performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement. Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for potential enhancement.
- Stay updated on industry developments and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge. Regularly review industry publications, participate in professional associations, and attend conferences to stay informed about market changes and innovations.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the company’s technical products and services. Engage in regular training sessions and hands-on experiences to fully understand the features and benefits of the offerings, ensuring the ability to effectively communicate these to clients.
- Participate in educational webinars, conferences, networking, and presentations. Actively seek opportunities for professional development and industry engagement to enhance knowledge and visibility.
- Research, monitor, and document changes in the industry; communicate internally. Keep the team updated on significant industry shifts, regulatory changes, and emerging trends that could impact the business, ensuring a proactive approach to market dynamics.
- Lead in pipeline management discussions and provide accurate forecasts. Utilize CRM tools to track sales activities, manage the sales funnel, and produce reliable sales forecasts that inform resource allocation and strategy adjustments.

Minimum Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Experience:
- Three (3) years outside sales team management
- Business to Government (B2G) sales with a state and local focus
- SaaS solutions sales
- Five (5) years in public safety and / or security technology
- Travel: Approximately 25% of time
Desirable Training, Experience and Characteristics:
- GIS knowledge and working experience.
- Experience selling complex software and data management solutions.
- Communication skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. Must possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups.
