GIS Analyst
GeoSearch is actively recruiting a GIS Analyst to work in a remotely distributed team. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience applying geospatial technologies and spatial analytic methodologies to natural resource management and demonstrate a solid background in ArcGIS Online (AGOL) application building, and ArcGIS/AGOL administration. The Analyst must have exceptional communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and be able to work well in a remote team environment.
Responsibilities:
• Collects, processes, and analyzes spatial data in both vector and raster format
• Develops metadata in FGDC and ISO formats
• Builds data models for purposes of performing spatial analysis, including suitability analysis
• Serves as administrator and content creator for ESRI Portal/Enterprise/AGOL systems
• Works with data stewards from government agencies and commercial entities to facilitate data needs and requirements, provides technical assistance to clients
• Works with developers to develop and use coding (such as Python) to automate workflows
• Provides database support that requires knowledge of SQL enterprise database, ESRI SDE, and ESRI File geodatabase formats
• Troubleshoots data and workflow issues
• Documents data requirements and ensures metadata compliance
• Prepares models, diagrams and technical documentation for ETL processes, GIS applications, GIS databases, AGOL systems, data models, metadata and operating procedures
• Follows quality control procedures to ensure a high degree of consistency, integrity, and accuracy
Qualifications:
• ESRI Desktop Applications (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Pro)
• ESRI ArcGIS Online, ESRI Portal, and ESRI Enterprise, including application development and data services administration
• Hands on experience with data modeling and data analytics
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle
• Excellent communication skills, time-management, decision-making, and basic task organizational skills
• Ability to work well within a remote team environment
• Ability to apply creative solutions through strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Ability to train others (internal & external) using clear communication and provided program tools
• Experience with FGDC and ISO metadata creation and maintenance
• Experience in technical writing
• Data QA/QC experience
Requirements:
• US citizen with ability to pass a background check to obtain federal government contractor credentials
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in GIS, physical or natural science, geography, computer science or a related field
• Five years of experience using Esri ArcGIS to manage and analyze data and databases
• One year experience using Esri Portal/Enterprise/AGOL
Experience/Skills Preferred (in addition to requirements):
• Bachelors or master’s degree in GIS, marine or environmental sciences
• Professional certification in Geographic Information Systems, such as GISP
• Three years or more applying GIS to natural resource management
• Experience with python or other GIS coding languages
