GeoSearch's client is currently looking for a Senior Geophysicist Specialist to lead their airborne radiometric and magnetic data processing efforts to support various geological and geophysical projects. In this role you will play a critical role in all processing and interpretation tasks of radiometric and magnetic data. Your work will directly contribute to the understanding of subsurface conditions, mineral exploration, and environmental assessments.
Responsibilities
- Data Processing: Process acquired data using specialized software and tools to enhance signal-to-noise ratios, correct for environmental factors, and create interpretable datasets
- Data Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of radiometric and magnetic data, identifying anomalies and patterns that may indicate subsurface features, mineral deposits, or other geophysical phenomena
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality control of data to ensure accuracy and reliability and troubleshoot any issues in data acquisition or processing
- Interpretation: Collaborate with the geophysical team to interpret data, generate geophysical models, and provide insights into geological and geophysical features of interest
- Report Preparation: Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing findings, interpretations, and recommendations for stakeholders, clients, or project teams
- Research and Development: Stay current with advancements in geophysical techniques and equipment and explore innovative approaches to data processing and analysis
- Health and Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during fieldwork and data acquisition, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your team
- This position will primarily involve office-based work but may require some fieldwork activities. Fieldwork may require travel to remote locations, varying weather conditions, and physical exertion
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related field;
- Previous experience in airborne geophysical data acquisition and processing
- Proficiency in relevant software packages such as Geosoft Oasis Montaj, Surfer, or similar geophysical processing software
- Strong knowledge of geophysical survey design and data collection techniques
- Good understanding of GNSS data acquisition and processing
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to travel and work in various field locations
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in the field
- Must be a U.S. citizen to support Federal contracting requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. Geophysics, Geology, or a related field
- Experience with airborne geophysical surveys and associated equipment
- Some knowledge and experience with fixed-wing and helicopter survey operations
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information System) software
- Advanced programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation
- U.S. DoD Top Secret security clearance eligibility or ability to obtain
