Lead Surveyor

Our client is actively seeking a Lead Surveyor who will be responsible for overseeing ground control surveys of aerial survey sites across the United States. This position will also direct crews on survey plans, design survey plans, process data, and organize survey equipment. Additional duties include preparing proposals, contracts and reports; consulting with clients; performing field work; and drawing/drafting maps.


We will consider candidates in the following locations: Colorado Springs, CO, Boston, MA, or Charlotte, NC.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Plan and design ground control surveys, resources, schedules and cost metrics for all projects/jobs.
  • Implement, control, and estimate the survey schedule and cost.
  • Train surveyors is all aspects of their positions.
  • Resource planning for projects and jobs.
  • Determine the equipment required to meet business needs and make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement.
  • Manage human and material resources to meet production targets.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for survey operations.
  • Lead field staff assigned to survey operations.
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures.
  • Establish and monitor quality standards meeting company ISO guidelines and objectives.
  • Analyze metrics and cost to detect and correct problems.
  • Determine and implement improvements to the survey process.
  • Process survey data.
  • Prepare and maintain reports.
  • Monitor regulations and ensure adherence to survey regulations.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including production, acquisition, and management.
  • Responsible for appropriate staffing levels and working with HR to manage and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


Leader of the Survey Department within the Mapping Division to include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and motivating employees, resolving problems.


Education:


Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Geodesy, Geomatics or related field. Public Land Survey License preferred.


Experience:


A minimum of 3 years’ experience in surveying is required. Knowledge of aerial survey requirements for ground survey required. Must have the ability to manage a group of technical non-exempt and exempt employees, maintaining a high degree of motivation and focus within the department. Must be detail oriented, ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a changing environment. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication leadership and motivational skills with a strong commitment to quality required.


This position requires extensive travel and field work experience throughout the United States with occasional international travel (up to 50% travel).


Current US Passport required


Salary range: $65,000-85,000/year.
