Resume Tips and Interviewing 101
|
Here are a few tips to make your resume attractive to a potential
employer on line.
Write your resume in the same style as you would a paper
resume. Be sure to use accepted English style, punctuation, and
grammar.
Avoid using ‘bullets’ or other graphics and unicodes in
electronic resumes. The version that the employer gets may not
translate very well
Write a cover letter when possible to emphasize the skills
and experience you have with the specific requirements of
the position. Do not use a ‘one-size-fits-all’ cover letter
Check your spelling. It is the kiss of death to have a resume with
misspelled words
Format - Although there are a variety of acceptable resume styles
the most common is the reverse chronological resume format.
Employers want to see where you have been at a glance. Hiding
dates because of age or gaps in employment typically backfire.
